The Olde Peninsula…this is one of our favorite places to eat (and drink) in Kalamazoo. Nice atmosphere, good food and service, vegetarian accommodations – the only downside really is that is loud. This places seems louder than should be considering it isn’t just a straight up bar but rather restaurant/brewery with a bar in it.
We had friends in town from out-of-state so we for several says so we knew at some point we would be taking them there.
We started the meal with a couple of apps (pub and bean dip) and a round of drinks. Three of us ordered their pumpkin ale. It was delicious, it tasted so much pumpkin pie – it was one of the best pumpkin beers I’ve had this season. One of our friends, who isn’t a beer drinker, ordered their vanilla root beer which is vanilla Stolis in their own root beer.
Another one of their beers that I really like and get just about every time I go is their Sunset Red Ale – it is a perfect compliment to their Sunset Red burrito (which I had for dinner). A london broil, smoked brisket, and fish tacos were had by the rest of the group. Everyone left full and happy and we got home in time to watch the end of the Notre Dame/OU game.
Just the facts ma’am:
Ole Peninsula Brewpub
Location: 200 E. Michigan Ave. Kalamazoo, Michigan 49007
Number of Taps: TBD
Austin’s Overall Experience Rating:
5 out of 5 Pint Glasses – our favorite place and his two best friends in from out-of-state, a 5 was in the bag. Update: I was wrong. Austin gives it a 4 out of 5. He says 5 out of 5 for Kalamazoo but not statewide. My apologies.
